Christmas Is Down

Yah!  Christmas is down for another year.  I love having it up, but it's always good to put it away.
Now it's time to get out the Snowmen for the month of January.  Brrrrrr  Feels like we've already experienced January.
Yesterday Alan and I spent the day painting our bedroom.  I will have pictures soon.  We have always bought Dutch Boy paint from Menards and paint two coats and then go around and touch up a few spots.  We bought from Sherwin Williams because they had the color I wanted.  My neighbor has her living room/kitchen/dining room in this gold color and that's where they got it.  The paint was really thick and after two coats there were a lot more spots than normal to redo.  That's really discouraging.  Especially when it's a vaulted ceiling and the spots all seem to be at the top.   It's done, we like it and all is put back together.  Next up is the laundry room.
Well, I guess if I'm going to get the Snowmen out, I had best get started.  I hope you are all staying warm today.

54 Years

I was standing in line at Walmart last week and I thought, this will be my 54th Christmas.  WOW! Of course many of those I do not even remember.  It would be so much fun to be able to look back in time and watch what it would have been like on Christmas in 1959.  I'll always remember the big bulbs on the Christmas tree with the tin silver stars that would protect the tree branches. And, who could forget putting tinsel on the tree.  The old glass ornaments were so beautiful.
Growing up we would always anxiously wait for the Christmas catalogs to arrive.  Then we would sit down and circle and write down our wish lists.  Dad always came through for Christmas.  We probably got just about everything we wrote down.  And, we always got new underwear, socks and pajamas.  When we opened our gifts we would take turns.  Dad would give Jeanne a gift and she would open it.  Then he'd give one to Bill, then me, then Donna.  One year he told us that there was a paper shortage, so we had to very carefully open each gift, fold the paper and give it Mom. LOL  Pretty sure he was pulling our legs.
Now I 54 Christmas's have gone by.  33 of those with Alan.  Now the girls are grown and celebrate with their own families.  We still blessed to have one with us still.  Just celebrated Christmas number 22 with her.  My dream would be to one day celebrate with all of our girls and their families.
I am going to enjoy the decorations for 3 more nights and then Monday I think it will be time to put it all away again.  It's almost January and at my house, that means it's time for the Snowmen to grace our home.  That's my favorite kind of snow.  Decorations.
I hope that you each had a wonderful season and that you were truly blessed.  It's so easy to get caught up in all of the decorating, presents and baking.  But, without our Lord and Savior being born, there would not be any reason for the season.  Because of Him, we are Blessed.

Oh, Happy Day!

Oh, Happy Day!  My shopping is completed and all packages have been mailed.  Ahead of schedule makes me feel accomplished.  Everything is also wrapped and under the trees.
I really haven't done a lot of baking.  Last weekend Kendra and I made a few sugar cookies, still need to frost those, and we made some Ginger Bread Bars, very yummy and some M&M cookies. She took the bars and the M&M cookies for an exchange at work.  I'm going to make the ring pretzels with the Hershey's Kiss melted in the middle with a green/red M&M in the middle in the next few days.  My plan is to give the neighbors a box of hot chocolate mix and a plate of the pretzel treats for Christmas.  I have the boxes of hot chocolate, now to finish it up.
Mine probably won't look this cute, but it will get the message across.
Alan and I are hoping to leave Saturday morning to go and visit his Mom and brother and sister.  We'll stop in Knoxville on our way to see Alan's Aunt Lova and Uncle Charles.  Charles is not doing well and has cancer.  Just waiting for his time on Earth to end.  We should get to Chariton no later than 1:30.  We'll head back home on Sunday.  So, praying the weather stays stable and that Alan is feeling well.  He's been fighting a bad cold.  I'm also praying I don't get it.
I am so tired of the cold.  Not sure if I'll survive the Winter or not.  But, I'm guessing I will.  LOL
Well, it's time for me to head down to ride my bike.
I hope you are all getting your shopping, baking, whatever you have left done soon.

Good Day

Despite sleeping in until 10 this morning, I still got quite a bit accomplished.  It felt good to sleep after having a sleepless night the night before.
When I heard the winds blowing this morning, I was trying to talk myself out of going grocery shopping and running errands.  Almost had it down to just groceries and then decided that I needed to buck up and get out there.
So, I left just after 11:30 for my busy afternoon.  First stop was Taco Johns to pick up a Taco and some Diet Pepsi.  After enjoying my Taco I went to Best Buy.  Gee, I wonder what I bought there, Rachel.  lol
Made a stop to look at some fashion boots at Sears.  They have some great sales right now.  But, didn't find what I wanted there.  Next on to Payless to return a pair of shoes.  Found a pair of boots there, so did an exchange.
Made a stop at Kohls.  I couldn't believe how many people were shopping today.  But, during the wait in line, had a nice chat with a lady.
I went to Target where I found a few more stocking stuffers and some of my favorite Chick a Boom sweetened popcorn.  And, it was on sale!  So, I bought 3 bags.  YUM!
My last stop was Walmart.  Picked up a couple more stuffers and groceries and headed for home.  I got home about 4:20.
Right now I am watching an old school chick flick and then House Hunters and to bed.
Tomorrow I'll stay home and do some wrapping and figure out if I've got all that I need for everyone.
Alan is still not feeling well.  Praying he's better by the weekend.  We are planning on going to his Mom's on Saturday and then home on Sunday.  So, he needs to be better and no weather advisories.  If either of those, it will be postponed.
I hope you are all staying nice and warm and are ready for more snow by morning.
Night all.

The Night Before Thanksgiving

Where has this year gone?  Here it is the night before Thanksgiving.  Crazy!  And, Christmas is just 4 weeks away.
Just about everything is ready for tomorrow.  I'll do the stuffing and mashed potatoes tomorrow.  At least I don't have to wake up early to pop a turkey in the oven.  Cooking it the day before is the way to go.  I'll head over to pick Mom up at 10:30 and then when I get back set the table.  Can't do that until just before or Daniel will try to pull the table cloth off.  And, I don't think he's ready for that trick.  lol
The Elam's are on their way.  Guessing they'll arrive no later than 8 by the time they stop for something to eat.  Kendra is on her way and should be here soon.  Then we'll have our supper.
Ready for a fun weekend with the kids and Daniel.  :)
I hope you all have a very blessed Thanksgiving with your loved ones.

One More Sleep

One more sleep until at least 2 of our girls, a son in law and a grandson arrive for Thanksgiving weekend.  We are do blessed that the Elam's are able to come again this year.  And, we are blessed to have Kendra so close by.  It will be nice to spend time with all of them.  One day we will get the Beck's to join us for a Holiday event.  Might take some work though.
I got up this morning and put some sheets in the wash, ate some breakfast and headed for Walmart.  I really felt like I was going to just fly through the store, but from start to finish it took me 1 hour and 20 minutes.  Here's hoping I go everything I needed, and then some.  I broke the bank.  Next stop was Hy-Vee, because I am in love with Chick a Boom popcorn and I can only get it there.  Plus I picked up a couple of extra items there.
Got home and unloaded ALL of it and put it ALL away.  Turned the oven on and got the apple pie baking.  Then ate some lunch.  Mixed up the cake and tossed that in with the apple pie.  Smart thinking on my part.  Now I have a pumpkin pie baking.  As soon as that's done, it's down to the gym to get my workout in.
Supper is in the crockpot.  Yah, for crockpots!
After supper I probably better look at the damage to the checking account.  I'll watch some tv and just relax.
Tomorrow I have a few more things to make and I'll bake the turkey as well.
I'm glad the sun is shining today or it would be a lot colder than it is.
I better go and check the pie and keep on moving.
Enjoy your afternoon/evening.

I'm Dreaming of a White Thanksgiving?

At about 4 this morning I started hearing a loud sound outside, like something was scraping and banging.  I'm thinking, who is outside at this time of the morning and what are they doing.  I finally crawled out of bed and looked out the window to see our neighbor backing in and out of his driveway and clearing snow with his plow.  He has a lawn care business and of course what do lawn care people do in the winter.  Yup, plow snow.Snow that I didn't even know was coming.  I'm standing there thinking, you have got to be kidding me.  Every time he would back into his driveway his lights were shining into bedrooms across the street.  Guess I may as well get use to it.  I think it's gonna be a long Winter.  This is our third snow of the season. Oh, joy!  I do love looking at it, just not the cold that comes with it and of course, shoveling and going out in it.
So, needless to say, I stayed in bed and tried to fall back to sleep.  Took awhile, but I must have finally nodded off.
Today I dusted and vacuumed and made the futon into a bed. Cleaned the basement bathroom. Worked on the grocery list that I started yesterday.  Got my workout in and shoveled snow.  Not too bad outside, but chilly.  Brrrrr
I am thinking a hot bath and jammies is just around the corner.  Maybe even a cup of hot chocolate later.  :)
Tomorrow I need to get out of bed and get grocery shopping done.  Then of course I have to put it away.  I also want to bake the apple pie from Isaac Newton, love those, and bake Daniel's Birthday Cake.  And, of course do my workout.  Lots to do, but I have 3 days to do it all, so just taking my time.
Stay warm and toasty and enjoy your night.

Please Pray

Please pray for Wayne and Ginger Peterson and their family.  Wayne was my youth pastor growing up at Calvary.  Their son, Nate, passed away sometime this past week, and from what I have gathered on facebook, he had an enlarged heart.  From reading all of the remembrances and condolences, it sounds like he truly had a "big" heart.  He was loved by all that knew him and a great friend.  I think he was probably only about 34 years old.  There will be a memorial service in Colorado tomorrow night and a service in Irving, TX this Saturday, where his parents live.  I have been praying for them throughout the day.  Never easy to lose someone you love so dearly.
My day went quickly.  And, I did get in a workout today, Jeanne.  Thank you for asking, it encouraged me to get myself downstairs.  I have been slacking off, and I don't like it.  I am challenging myself big time this week.
Alan and I made a run out in the cold for a sandwich at Quiznos tonight and watched the Amazing Race.
Going to be a busy week getting ready for Thanksgiving.  I am grateful for the cold so that I have a 2nd refrigerator.  The garage.  :)
Have a wonderful night.

Better Get My Post Done

Well, here it is 10:41 PM and I haven't done my post, so thought I'd best get it done.  Not that it's too exciting or anything.  LOL
I once again slept in.  A great morning to do it.  Wayyyyyyy too cold for man or beast today.
I got up and had a late breakfast.  Checked the world on my laptop and watched some tv.
Finally drug myself off the couch and got dressed and started.
My goal was to get all of the bags of things I had bought the last two days sorted through and the things put where they needed to be.  Bagged up the Elam's stocking stufferes and the Beck's as well.  I have the Beck's things ready to mail.  Plan to get it done this week.  I also wrapped Daniel's Birthday presents and a couple of other Christmas presents.
Finally took pictures of the two freshly painted bedrooms.  I really like them a lot.  I love color on my walls.
I started to work on supper and then Rachel called and Pa and I wished Daniel a Happy Birthday.  He's so funny.  He just keeps saying, "Pa? Hi?"  lol  Then we asked how old he is. "2".  How old is Pa?  "2". So cute.  4 more sleeps till we see him.  And, of course his parents and Kendra.
Chatted with Kendra a few times off and on tonight.
Now it's time for me to think about bedtime.
Stay warm.

50 Years Ago Today

Where were you 50 years ago when JFK was shot?  I was about 4 1/2, so I really have no memories of it.  Other than what I have heard, read and seen over the years.  Such a sad day and loss for our country and for his family.
Today was another day of hitting the stores.  I am now finished with the Elam's and the Beck's for stocking stuffers.  Now to get them ready for the Elam's to take home and a box ready to mail to CA.  We'll be doing some online shopping this weekend.  Buying gifts for Elam's and Kendra.  I send a check to the Beck's and they buy what they would like and gifts for Logan.
When I went to Walmart I bought 2 of 1 item and ended up getting charged 4 times.  Oops!  So, I'll be going back for a refund this weekend.  This is what happens when I'm being friendly and talking.  lol
On my way home I needed to get gas, but thought, naw, I"ll just head for home.  But, then I told myself if I didn't get it today, that with my luck the prices would jump big time over night.  So, filled up for $2.94 and then headed home.
I got everything put away and have been sitting and relaxing for the last hour.  Just going to watch some tv and veg out.  Something I do quite well.
I hope you all have a great night and a fantastic weekend.

On the Go

Once I got up and got myself moving, I was on the go from 10:30 until I walked in the door just before 4:30.  I went to the Blairsferry Walmart first and bought quite a few things.  Then it was on to Target. Made a quick stop for lunch and then to Bed Bath and Beyond.  I almost was going to head for home after that, but alas, I went to the Marion Walmart.
Got home and put away some of the Thanksgiving food items and stacked bags in the bedroom.  After supper I'll go through those to see what I bought.  lol  May surprise myself.  Need to see if I need anything else for stocking stuffers for the out of towners.
Tonight we are just having a thin crust pizza from Walmart.  Then it's Big Bang Theory, The Millers and Parenthood.  Makes my heart happy.
The big question of the night?  Will we see snow in the morning?

It Is Finished!

Woo, hoo!  My second bedroom is finished, and that makes me happy.  It turned out really nice.  I promise to post pics of the two bedrooms on facebook soon.  I have most everything hung on the walls, but need to get a picture frame before I am finished.
I ended up sleeping in this morning and drug myself out of bed.  First up I decided to tackle the checkbook.  I had  lot of receipts that needed written in and then I needed to balance with the bank.  I did pretty good.  The bank said I had $44 more.  Much better than the other way around.
About halfway through the books I went in and finished up painting so that it could dry and I could get the tape off.
I ate quite a late lunch and then finally got down to the gym about 3:30.
Tonight I need to write out a list of stocking stuffers and other items that I need to get.  My plan is to head out tomorrow and get it done.
Even though I slept in and I was busy all day, it feels like it should be much later than 6:10.
Tonight is my date night with Rachel.  We always watch Survivor together on Wednesday nights.  We have a texting date.  :)
I realized yesterday that I need to get a turkey soon.  Thanksgiving is sneaking up on me this year. Funny how it does that.  I have a feeling Christmas will do the same.
We are looking forward to having the Elam's, Kendra and Mom here for Thanksgiving.  I remember years ago that I started doing Thanksgiving with our family of 4 with Mom and Dad, and then Kendra joined us.  Then the Gray's moved home and we added them to the group.  And, now we are back to 6 at the table and Daniel in his high chair.
Well, going to look through a few things that I purchased to see who has what for Christmas and get it written down.
Have a good night.

Still At It

I got up this morning and thought I'll finish up painting the bedroom in no time.  HA!  Of course I ran out of paint.  So I only painted for about and hour and a half.  Sad.
I got an email saying that the Loretta Lynn Concert has been cancelled.  Sad.  So, called Mom to let her know.  I really wanted to go and see her.  Oh, well.  Not meant to be.
I changed clothes and took off about Noon to run a couple of errands, and of course get paint, before my haircut at 2:15.
Stopped at the Post Office to mail a box of Christmas ornaments to Erica.  Then on to Walmart to look for a couple of things, which I didn't find.  Went to Menards to get a gallon of paint.  Stopped at Taco Johns for a Taco and then on for my haircut.
Came home and put on my paint clothes and finished up the first coat on the last wall and took tape off the other wall.  Now, I shall wait until tomorrow and quickly do the second coat.  Just want it done.
I need to make a list of what I need to do in the next couple of days.  I for sure have to balance the checkbook and I want to go and do some stocking stuffer shopping.  I also want to get back in the gym.  I've neglected that the last couple of days.  So, tomorrow I will be in the gym for a workout.
Making spaghetti, salad and green beans for supper and then it will be time to sit and do nothing.  One of my favorite things to do.
Hope you all have a great night.

Here I Go Again

I woke up a bit later than I had planned, but that's because I woke up at 4:30.  So, did some praying and then went back to sleep.
I got up and ate a quick breakfast and then gathered my painting supplies for the day.  I'll tell you, it takes a long time to paint.  No way could I do this for a living.  I would paint for an hour and take about a 10 minute break.  I finally quit about 3 this afternoon.  I finished a full wall, the closet wall and about 1/4 on the other full way and the window wall.  Removed the tape and then finished taping for tomorrow.  Hoping it doesn't take me too long.
After I get done painting it's time for a haircut at 2:15.
I was just lazy after painting.  Took a nice bath and had my jammies on by 3:30 this afternoon.  Thought, what's the point of getting dressed.
Sat on the couch and relaxed.  Then Kendra called and we talked for awhile.  She got to fire someone today.  Something she knew needed to be done, but upset her a lot.  She fired the cook, so now that's on her shoulders until they hire someone else.  Praying it's someone that isn't just looking for a job for the money, but that they truly have a passion for serving the children of Waterloo.
Tonight was just canned soup night at our house.  Makes life much easier when you're tired.  So, guess I need to make something tomorrow night.
Watching a little tv and then hopefully will be in bed by 10 so I can get up and at 'em in the morning.
Night all.

The Day Is Ending.

Well, another day is about to end.  I haven't done a whole lot today.  Slept in and listened to the storms this morning.  Finally got up and decided to wash bedding.  Kendra and I watched some Hallmark movies, then she finally talked me into getting up off the couch and going to Goodwill and Gordmans.
Alan, Kendra and I went to Genghis Grill for supper.  Came home and talked till 6 and then she was heading home to Waterloo.
I decided to tape off some of the bedroom so that I can start painting tomorrow.  I have lots to get accomplished this morning, so hope I can stay on task and get it done.
Took a bath and then talked with Jeanne for a few minutes.  Then Mom called.  So, pretty much missed The Amazing Race tonight.  Oh, well.  That's life.
Now I'm watching "Letters to Jackie".  Jackie Kennedy received 800,000 letters in 2 months following JFK's death.  Amazing outpouring of love to her.
Now, I need to call Jeanne back and chat for a few minutes, then I think it's time to head to bed.
Have a good night.

One Week

It's hard to believe that 1 week from today Daniel Jacob Elam will be 2 years old.  He's learning and growing up so fast and we can hardly wait to see him in less than 2 weeks.  We will celebrate Thanksgiving and Daniel's Birthday, too.
Today I slept in till about 8:30, got in my workout, grocery shopped, hung out with Kendra, made supper and watched the Hallmark movie.  Tonight's was a winner in our book.
Now sort of watching another movie, but will probably be turning it off and heading to bed soon.
So there ya go.  Day 16.
Sleep well everyone.

Catching Up

Well, because I am not smart enough to know my own blog address, I couldn't blog at Rachel's.  Oh, well, I am back and that's all that counts.  Right?  lol
I left Monday morning at 9:30.  As I got in the van I was looking for CD's and started the van.  Well, not exactly.  It didn't start.  So, I tried again.  It didn't start.  GREAT!  I'm thinking, okay, Lord, is there a reason I just packed and I'm not suppose to go to Illinois?  I called Alan, but of course I didn't reach him.  It was Monday, so figured he was in a meeting.  Decided to send up a prayer and give it another try.  Low and behold it started.  I think as I was looking at CD's my foot was resting on the brake.  Won't start if ya have your foot on the brake.  I had to stop at Drug Town for my prescriptions, so figured that would be the test when I shut it off and started it again.  All was good.  Called Alan and left him a 2nd message so he knew all was okay.
Off I went.  Decided to play a little Christmas music to pass the time.  Seriously, nothing passes the time when you're driving all by yourself for 4 1/2 hours.
When I got to Taylorville my first stop was Walmart for a couple of things, including a heating pad for Rachel.  I got to their place about 3:00.  We chatted for a bit and then just before we got Daniel up I got the chicken and rice casserole together for supper.  Then it was time to get Daniel up from his nap.  He is such a fun little boy, and a little booger all at the same time.  He is doing so well sitting on the potty and most of the time he actually goes.
Tuesday morning Rachel had her appointment at the Dr for her back and the follow up from her sore throat visit on Friday.  Then we made a grocery list so that I could go shopping while Daniel napped.  By 10:30 her Dr's office called to tell her they had set up an MRI at 1:30 in Springfield, so I quickly got myself dressed and out the door to shop.  Yes, I was still in my jammies.  lol
Came back, ate some lunch and then Rachel was on her way and Mimi got to read books, rock and sing Daniel to sleep.  Nothing more precious than a sleeping, almost 2 year old.
I mopped the kitchen and did some cleaning in there while Rachel was gone.  Then when she came home we cleaned out the freezer and the fridge the next day.
Wednesday Daniel and Mimi dusted and vacuumed the house.  Thursday we decided to go to a new store in Taylorville and then stopped and picked up lunch on the way home.  After lunch we went outside to play for a short while and Daniel went down an hour later.  But, who can pass up good weather.
I did Daniel's laundry, cleaned the bathroom and put away his toys from the porch and the yard for winter.
It was so much fun listening to Daniel begin to form sentences, read books together, build with his blocks, play cars, do his letters and more.
Rachel and I had fun watching HDTV, Survivor, Hoarders:  Buried Alive and Parenthood together.  And, of course just talking.
Jacob had a couple of longer days as he's getting ready for the school musical this weekend.  Tonight he won't get home until later.  Dress rehearsal.
It was harder to say good bye today.  We have gotten so good at not crying.  But, today just wasn't so easy. Please keep praying that her pain will go away.  Nothing worse than back pain with a toddler on the loose. And, pray for good weather for travel Thanksgiving week so they can make it home.  They will either leave mid afternoon on Wednesday or on Thanksgiving morning.  And, we'll officially have a 2 year old.
That was my life this week, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.  I am so grateful that God knew that I should not be working right now.  Too much going on with my girls.
Enjoy your Friday night.

A Lazy Day

Today was a lazy day.  Kendra got up and went for a run, which about killed her, but she doesn't quit.  I did my workout and watched some tv.
Kendra got home about 12:30 and we started watching a movie.  We had decided that we'd go out for Lupper today so that Kendra could join us before she went home.  So, we paused the movie and went to Panera for Lupper.  It was quite tasty.
We came home, I was washed my hair and took my bath.  Jammie time by 4 pm, that's what it's all about. Finished watching out movie and then it was time to start packing.
I am heading to Illinois tomorrow to help Rachel out around the house and to take care of Daniel.  She's in a lot of pain with her back.  On Tuesday she'll go back to her Dr and we are hoping she'll schedule her for an MRI.  Pain has gone on too long.  I got my clothes packed and a few extras.  I'll finish up in the morning.
Kendra and I have been watching HGTV and sadly she needs to head back to Waterloo in about 15 minutes.  She always hates to go and I hate for her to go, but that's life.  She'll be back for the weekend again to run in the Turkey Trot in Marion on Saturday morning.
It's The Amazing Race tonight, and of course it will be running behind.  Hoping no later than 7:30.  We shall see.
There ya go.  Day 10 completed.

Spending Time With Lucy

Well, a whole week of November is gone.  Time really does fly.
For some reason my stomach started to hurt about 9:15 last night.  Not as in stomach ache, but the burning pit kind. It just kept gnawing.  I haven't had that for awhile.  So, I popped some antacid tables and got my heating pad.  Went to bed just before ten and held the heating pad on my stomach.  I dosed in and out and by 2 the pain was gone, so shut off the heating pad and back to sleep I went.
Woke up this morning and did my workout and didn't do much else.  Kendra got home at Noon, ate a quick lunch and we were out the door.  She had three things to return from a couple weeks ago.  Target, Kohls and Walmart.  I also had a return for Walmart.  We also made a stop at Bath and Body to use a coupon.
Now we are home.  Almost time to start some supper and then we'll watch a couple of Hallmark Christmas movies tonight.  Her stomach is not happy and hasn't been since last night, so hoping she feels better soon.
Alan put our Christmas lights up around the garage while the weather is nice.  Good thinking.
Praying for Rachel to feel better and hopefully figure out something to help with her back pain.  Praying for Erica and her family as they work with Logan, the school and Dr to help him with his ADHD.  Praying for Kendra to start feeling better from her Endometriosis.
I hope you've all had a wonderful day and you have a great night.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Wow!  A very busy day for me.  I got up early so that I could workout.  I put bedding in the wash, got my workout done, put the bed back together, got dressed, put a load of towels in to wash and was out the door at 9:45.
First stop was the Hiawatha Fire Station.  I got a call the other day that we had won a prize from the Chili Supper last Saturday.  We got $20 off at the Old Creamery Theater.  Not bad.  :)
Then I headed across town to pick up Mom for our day of adventure.
We stopped at the Goodwill on Council St first.  I found 2 really pretty Christmas candy dishes.  Next was Stuff.  Then I brought Mom over to see the rooms I had painted.
Back across town to eat lunch at Culvers.  Since I don't cook supper on Friday that was my main meal.  So I had a Butter Burger and side salad.  YUM!
US Bank was next on the agenda so Mom could cash in her hugh can of change.  Apparently she throw all her loose change in this can and takes it in once a year.  Pulled a butt muscle picking that thing up.  YIKES!
Then it was off to Wally World, Goodwill on the West Side and Fareway.
While Mom was in Fareway I called and chatted with Rachel for a bit.  Poor girl is sick.  Get well soon and praying that you won't spread the love to Daniel or Jacob.
Back to Mom's to unload and balance her checkbook and pay some bills.
On the drive home I talked with Kendra.  Got home about 4:40.  Awwww Good to sit down.
Thinking tonight while watching tv I should work on my checkbook.  We'll see.
And, that was my busy day.  The end.

It Is Finished

So, I got up this morning and was ready to finish up Kendra's bedroom.  I knew it wouldn't take me too long, which made me happy.  But, wouldn't ya know.  I probably had about  4' x 4' section to go and the paint was gone.  So, I had to change out of my paint clothes and head to Menards.  I decided on my way if I was going to buy another gallon of paint, that it would become my laundry room color as well.  Seriously, it doesn't even look like I used any out of the can.  I also bought the color for the spare room.
After that I made a stop at Gordmans to see if I could find some wall art for the spare room.  Then I was on my way home.
Ate a quick lunch and put my paint clothes back on.  Hardly was worth the effort.  Finished up and put my workout clothes on and hit the gym for an hour.
Came up and took the rest of the tape off.  Now I wait until after supper when Alan can help get the blinds, curtains and a few things on the walls.  And, yes, I know you all want pictures, so they will be on facebook. I haven't figured that part out yet on my blog.  lol  I will though.
I'll take a break from painting until next week.  Need to rest my weary body.
Tonight's supper will be chicken, rice, corn and french bread.  So, I have 30 minutes to rest before I start that.  Yah!
Tomorrow I am taking Mom out to all of her favorite places.  Goodwill and Stuff on the East side and Goodwill on the West side.  Throw in Fareway and not sure what else.  It's a full day.  Then I'll need to balance her checkbook before I head home.  The good news is that I never cook supper on Friday.
Now, doesn't my life sounds exciting?
Enjoy your evening.

Painting, Painting, Painting

Painting appears to be my life right now.  When I set my mind to anything, I can get it done.  Just takes awhile for that to happen.  lol
I got up this morning, had some breakfast and got ready to go grocery shopping.  Stopped at Walmart and then Hy-Vee before heading home.  Put the groceries away and changed into my paint clothes.
I started painting about 11:45, took a few breaks and called it a day at 4:30.  I'm almost finished with Kendra's bedroom.  Tomorrow I will finish it up and rehang everything.
Before I could sit and relax I had to fold some things that I had washed today and put them away.  And, I had to vacuum where the dresser goes in Ken's bedroom before I drug it back into place.  And, of course if ya got the vacuum out go ahead and do the hall and the other bedrooms.
Baked potato int the oven.  Yes, one.  Alan and I are at the stage  in life where we share a potato.  Steaks will go on the George Foreman Grill, some green beans and French Bread will round it out.
Then after supper, maybe I can finally sit down and just relax.  My body needs some rest if I'm going to finish up tomorrow.
Working on figuring out the color for the spare room.
Today I am Thankful once again for Logan Matthew Beck.  He's 11 years old today.  Wish we could be there to celebrate with him.
Enjoy your night, all.

It's Raining, It's Pouring

It's been a rainy afternoon today.  I actually was up and at 'em by 8:30 this morning.  I decided to start taping Kendra's bedroom so that I could get started painting.
After that I ate a little breakfast and went down to the gym.
By the time I was done working out, I realized my day was slip sliding away.
I quickly did my hair and got dressed and was out the door.  First stop was for a hard shell taco at Taco Johns.  Next stop was Menards to pick up a gallon of paint and a couple of paint items I needed.
I was going to go grocery shopping today, but that wasn't gonna happen.  It was already 12:45 when I got back home and I was going over to my neighbor's house at 1:30.  So, I knew I wouldn't have time to shop at Walmart and Hy-Vee.  Guess I'll do that in the morning.
Amy had a Scentsy, Thirty One and Premier get together on Saturday.  I didn't get moving in time to go over, so I was going to go over yesterday.  Well, we all know how yesterday was, so, we rescheduled for this afternoon.  Was over there for an hour and then came home and put on some paint clothes.
I got one coat on one wall and will finish it up tomorrow.  Then I'll tackle the two walls that shouldn't take as much time.  Closet wall and window wall.
So, now I am resting up for tomorrow.  After supper I'll take a nice bath and get my jammies on.  Watch a little tv and head to bed for a good night of sleep.
Day 5 I am thankful for 2 grandsons.  Logan will be 11 tomorrow and Daniel will be 2 on the 23rd.
Stay dry!  At least it's not snow like Western Iowa.  Hope it stays away.

YOUCH!

That's right.  YOUCH!  Last night I went to bed and woke up a couple of hours later and had to go to the bathroom.  You need to understand, I hardly ever get up in the night to use the bathroom.  So, off I went, but I didn't.  It was only a trickle.  Got into bed and instantly was very chilled.  I just lay there and thought, great!  I'll bet I have a UTI.  I got up at least 3 more times before morning.  Called the Dr when they opened and couldn't get in until 4!  YIKES!  I spent all day very painfully going to the bathroom, and sometimes not making it.  That brought new meaning to, ya gotta go, when ya gotta go.  So,  in between painting and drinking water, I attempted to pee all day.  Went to the Dr at 4 and am now on meds, so hopefully will start feeling better by morning.
I did get the master bathroom painted and it looks so fresh and new.  The only thing I replaced in there was the shower curtain.  The other one after less than 2 years looks ratty.  So, now it will be on to the next project, which I think will be Kendra's bedroom.  Then I'll do the spare bedroom.  Really leaning towards getting some bids on painting the master bedroom, living room/dining room and stairwell.  These rooms are vaulted.
So, that's my big day.  Now I am in my jammies relaxing before bed.  Trying to decided if I'll go grocery shopping tomorrow or Wednesday.  We shall see.  Just depends on if I'm able to sleep extra well tonight.
Day 4, I am thankful for my 2 son in laws, Jacob and Jim, who love my daughters.

One Down

One bathroom down and one to go!  I taped and painted the main bathroom today.  What a chore!  But, I'm glad it's done and I'm happy with the color and results.  Tomorrow I'll work on the Master Bathroom.  It's a little bigger, so hopefully if I get myself up and at 'em, I can get 'er done.
After painting and putting the bathroom back together, I headed down to the gym and got 70 minutes on my bike.  I skipped the rowing machine today.
Next stop, Panera for a salad and some soup.  Yum!
Now I am home, thinking about taking a nice hot bath and getting my jammies on.  Maybe I'll do a little taping in the bathroom so that I'm ahead of the game.
Tonight is the Amazing Race.  I do love this show.  Alan actually watches this with me.  I got him hooked on it a couple of years ago.
So, what am I Thankful for?  I am Thankful for 3 beautiful daughters who I love spending time with.

Sunshiny Day

I am enjoying the Sunshiny Day that we are having.  Sunshine just makes everything better.
Today, as with everyday, I got off to a slow start.  Slept in, then when I got up, didn't move very fast.  Parked myself on the couch to check out Facebook Land and then had a bowl of cereal.  Did a little work on my Books.  I decided to do my hair and put on my workout clothes and hit the gym.  Some days I just don't want to do it, but today, I knew I needed to.  We are going to the Hiawatha Fire Station for their annual Chili fundraiser.  It's a really good deal. All the chili, hotdogs, dessert and drink you can eat for $5.  Kids are $3.  We've gone the last few years.  My friend Marsha and her son Jacob are going to meet us there.  Always fun to see people we haven't seen in awhile.
After that we are going to stop at Menards to pick up paint so that I can finally get started painting the 2 bathrooms upstairs.  Working on figuring out paint colors for the bedrooms and living room and kitchen. It's a hard thing to do. You just never know how the color will really look until you've purchased it. It will be 2 years in December since we moved here, so it's about time to get it done.  And, I've certainly got the time.
Tonight the Hallmark Christmas movies begin!  Makes me so happy.  I am going to be DVRing them, so that Kendra can watch them whenever she comes home.
Today, as in everyday, I am Thankful for my Wonderful Husband who puts up with a lot from me.
So, there you have it.  Day 2 of November.
I hope you've all had a great day!

By George, I Think It Worked!

Okay, I think it may have worked.  Wish me luck and have a great day!

Practicing and Changing?

Okay, not sure what's going on, but for some reason, I must have tried to create a new blog a couple of years ago.  The one I did earlier will not let me write a new post, so going to try it on this one.  Then if I can I'll delete the other one.  No promises.  I know I am making this harder than need be.  But, it's driving me insane!
Anyway, November is National Blog Month, so I am TRYING to get back at it.  My old blog on Xanga appears to be gone, or at least I cannot find it.
For Day 1 of November, I am Thankful for my weight loss.  My journey began on April 4th and I am now down 48 pounds.  My plan is to make it to 50.  It's always hard for me when I hit the maintaining phase, so I need some prayer with that one.  I have made losing weight a game and it seems to be working so far.  I have a limited amount of calories for each day and I workout everyday, or at least try.  In the beginning I did 2 workouts a day, but now I'm down to 1.
We had a good weekend with Rachel, Daniel and Kendra.  Always love having the girls home.  Missed seeing Erica.  She had hoped to come home, but it didn't work out for her.  Hopefully in the Spring.  :)
Okay, time to see if this will work or not.
So, here goes........
